Marras is a design representing the childhood winters melting into a nostalgic dream of what can no longer be in the north. It's the dying tree trunk left behind in the tree fields after material has been collected to feed the economy. It is the beauty of not being, the end that promises a beginning.
The design is a part of the Arctic Glass Design Project in University of Lapland in collaboration with Tavastia Vocational school in 2021. It functions as a vase and a tealight holder. The design and mold were made by Eeva Hantula. Glass blowing was executed by Heini Korpisaari, Leevi Luoma, Klaus Martin and Samuli Parkkinen.
